Our Approach: From Beneficiaries to Rights Holders
We believe true inclusion is achieved through a participatory and rights-based approach grounded in Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR). Our work promotes:
Equal opportunities
Social integration
Poverty reduction
Leadership development
Recognizing the importance of collective voice and advocacy, we have facilitated the formation of block-level federations:
Viklang Parivartan Sangathan – Jambusar
Divyang Sahyog Sangathan – Vagra
These platforms empower PwDs to advocate for their rights, engage with local governance systems, and influence development processes.
Strengthening Financial Inclusion & Livelihoods
Financial independence is central to sustainable empowerment.
Self Help Groups (SHGs)
In Vagra block, five Self Help Groups of PwDs have been formed, with combined savings approaching INR 1,00,000. Members are trained in income-generating activities such as:
Warli Painting
Diya Decoration
Rakhi Making
Toran Making
Dhoopcup
Masala Packing
During festive seasons, members earn approximately INR 2,000 in 4 to 5 days contributing to household income and boosting confidence.
Industry Partnerships
Through our partnership with PGP Glass Pvt. Ltd., we have created sustainable livelihood opportunities for 22 PwDs, each earning around INR 12,000 - 15000 per month.
Our bottle sorting training program has successfully completed five batches, enrolling 69 participants, with 46 individuals placed at PGP Glass — earning an average monthly salary of INR 12,000.
Fostering Inclusion through Sports
Our sports initiatives support individuals with cerebral palsy, intellectual, physical, visual, and hearing disabilities. By nurturing talent and encouraging participation, we promote inclusion, community awareness, build confidence, visibility, and social acceptance.
PwDs supported by Aatapi have participated in the Khel Mahakumbh at the district level, winning medals and significantly boosting their confidence and community recognition.
